So you think to your self…. now self, you know what seems like a good idea?….having a wedding close to a Holiday, all the family will be in town and will cut down on travel… Great in theory but lets make sure your holiday event is not a holiday hindrance for the rest of your guests!!!
First lets talk about what dates to Eliminate right off the bat… Christmas or New Year…. off the table, no discussion… Its over and done with!!! Christmas for those who celebrate(or what ever you may celebrate that is equivalent) is an absolute hectic time of chaos, lights and family. No need to complicate that with adding your wedding to the mix. If you think having a wedding on the 23rd of December (Happy Festivus to the real ones!!!) isn’t creating stress for your loved ones you’re crazy. New Years you are basically forcing the guests to be out till midnight at your event. So for the people who want to party, this hamstrings them to one spot on New Years which as a former bar hopping, rickshaw legend isn’t ideal on one of the bigger party days of the year!!!. Now for the folk who have not seen midnight in years (your boy included unless I’m working or the boys are crushing it at CSGO late night) midnight is a rough time to hit. Not only that but you now how to fight with New years Eve Traffic on the way home which depending on location could be an absolute nightmare. Unless you are having a small… intimate event with nothing but a handful of close family and friends, please avoid these two for sure…. don’t be that guy.
On the Fence holidays include stuff like the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and the most legendary party day of the year…. I’m talking Flag day. I kid.. I kid. Seriously though, Holidays like these are gonna be down to personal preference and honestly the type of family and friends ya got. In my family if ya wanted to have an event around Thanksgiving we would welcome it with open arms but if you tried to have a wedding on the 4th of July it would start a riot of biblical proportions. Obviously that’s not the case for all family’s, so the best thing to do is to gauge the water temp and go from there.
The rest of the holidays are absolutely up for grabs. Memorial and Labor day weekend are historically some of the biggest work weeks of the year for me so make sure to reach out to vendors early for Friday, Saturday & Sundays on weekends like this. Other then that you shouldn’t run into any other booking conflicts. Just make sure to run everything by your family first. You know what they say about assuming… it makes a……….. well I’m sure you already know so no need to elaborate. Now I’m off to look at some Christmas Lights with My Beautiful wife and daughter!!! Happy Holidays people!!!
Health and Happiness!!!!
